How it works

The Patent Pending GeoOrbital wheel is an evolution of the orbital wheel (the wheels on the TRON Motorcycles). The GeoOrbital wheel replaces a standard bicycle front wheel to turn your bike into a powerful electric bike in under 60 seconds.


The GeoOrbital wheel takes under 60 seconds and no tools to install and is built to last.  Everything needed to power your bike is included in the wheel!


The GeoOrbital wheel is compatible with nearly every bicycle. We have tested it on hundreds of bikes of all different styles from all different eras. The wheel comes in 2 sizes to cover over 95% of all adult sized bicycles. If your bike has a 26in, or 700c (also compatible with 28in and 29in) front wheel and uses rim brakes, the GeoOrbital wheel fits!

60 Second installation

The GeoOrbital wheel is by far the easiest way to add electric power to your bike. The only part that isn’t in the wheel itself is a simple thumb activated throttle, which is easily clipped onto your handlebar.

Up to 20 miles per hour

Sometimes you just need the speed. Whether you need to accelerate faster than cars at an intersection or just want to get home after work, our class leading 500W Brushless DC motor will get you to 20 miles per hour in just 6 seconds and you can always pedal to go even faster.

Up to 50 mile range

We use the highest quality Panasonic 36V removable Lithium-Ion battery with a pedal assisted range of up to 50 miles per-battery (up to a 30 mile range for the 26 inch wheel). With little to no pedaling you will go about 20 miles on a single battery (12 miles for the 26 inch wheel). The more you choose to pedal the more range you can expect, and you can always take a spare battery with you for longer rides.

Commute on your bike, on your own schedule and without exerting more energy then you see fit. No more traffic. No more looking for parking or waiting for the bus – Plus, because the GeoOrbital wheel when installed on a bicycle is still considered a bicycle*, there’s no need for insurance, registration, or even a license. Getting around by bike is better for you and for the environment, not to mention it’s a ton of fun!

5 Generations


We have been developing and testing our GeoOrbital wheel prototypes both in the shop and on all types of city streets. We reduced the weight, part count, and cost in half, while greatly increasing safety and reliability. Based on user feedback we doubled the motor power, made the battery removable and lockable, added a USB outlet, and modified each generation so that they would be easier and more universal to install.

We’ve come a long way and made huge technical strides in the past 18 months, with each new generation learning from it’s predecessors and the hundreds of test riders and beta testers generous enough to share their thoughts. What we ended up with is the easiest and most reliable way to turn your bike electric.

The team


At the core there are 3 of us – we are rocket scientists, inventors, entrepreneurs, and engineering experts. We have built spacecraft with SpaceX, built electric vehicles with Ford and built micro-businesses with the Peace Corps. We also love to ride all different types of bikes – road bikes, electric bikes, mountain bikes, 29er’s, trikes, hybrids, and even a Mini-Penny Farthing.

Having long standing ties in the heart of Cambridge, MA and being based only blocks away form MIT and Harvard University, we are very lucky to have the support and guidance of top experts in innovation, supply chain management, manufacturing, design, electric vehicles and cycling. In fact everyone that you saw in our video is helping us bring the GeoOrbital wheel to market. We are very lucky to have the support of so many awesome people!

The wheel was invented in Cambridge and is built locally in New England in partnership with local contract manufacturers and part vendors. All the structural components are made in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Keeping our manufacturing local allows us to use the latest technologies and have the highest standards for precision and craftsmanship. We are proud to support our community while delivering a quality product.

Risks and challenges

Creating a new product is inherently risky, with unseen challenges that inevitably spring up over the course of development. We have been testing and iterating for close to 2 years, with multiple generations of prototypes, but unforeseen challenges might surface that can create delays. A large order will also stress our supply chain and although we work with established contract manufactures and part producers there is always a chance that something might go wrong. However, we are an experienced team and we’re using industry standard technology and processes. We’re confident we can address any issues as they come up and have built redundancies in our supply chain.

The technology works, we have put thousands of miles on our prototype wheels and every small design change we make undergoes extensive testing. We have a process in place and will only ship wheels when they meet our standards of quality. We aim to deliver wheels much sooner then 6 months after the campaign, but it is possible that we will have unforeseen delays. Bringing such a new technology to market is an ambitious undertaking, and we hope that we can do this together… with you.
